After hours spent on programming and data analysis courses comes the moment of truth: you have the skills, but to the world you still do not exist. To turn theory into practice and start landing real work, I needed a place of my own – a business card, a portfolio and a bridge to my first clients. And so an idea was born, as exciting as it was terrifying: to build my own website from scratch.
When you build something for yourself – something meant to be your public face – the pressure is huge. This was not just another course exercise, it was my debut. And that is when my greatest enemy caught up with me: perfectionism. Every line of code, every spacing, every colour had to be perfect. I analysed and tweaked for hours – and stood still, afraid to publish anything that was not absolutely flawless.
The breakthrough was a shift in perspective. I asked myself one question: is this website meant to be a perfect monument, or a working tool? I realised that my “home on the web” did not have to be a palace right away – it needed solid foundations, a door for guests, and room to grow.
I focused on what mattered most: a clear, responsive WordPress site (with Elementor), with a description of my offer and a simple contact form. I released it into the world knowing it was only the beginning. And that approach works – later came, among other things, the Tawk.to chat integration I had not even thought of at the start.
Today it is more than a business card – my first fully independent project and tangible proof of the move from learning to practice. I am proud of it not because it is perfect, but because it is real. And because I had the courage to hit “publish”.
